A 43-year-old De Soto man allegedly was found with suspected illegal narcotics following a traffic stop near Olympian Village. A Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office deputy stopped the man who was driving a 2006 Yamaha ATV on Hwy. 110 near Athena School Road, authorities reported.

The report did not say why the deputy conducted the traffic stop.

The man allegedly told the deputy he did not have a valid driver’s license and gave the deputy a different form of identification. The deputy then learned the man’s driver’s license was revoked, the report said.

The man told the deputy he was driving from a gas station in Olympian Village. The deputy then searched the ATV, and he found a bag containing suspected narcotics and drug paraphernalia, according to the report.

The man was issued a citation for the traffic stop and driving with a revoked license and was released at the scene pending an application for a warrant, the report said.

Depending on results of the drug analysis, the Sheriff’s Office will seek charges against the man through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for possession of a controlled substance, Capt. Matt Moore said.
