Kevin Dewayne Recar, 43, of De Soto recently was sentenced to seven years in prison following felony sodomy and drug trafficking charges, court papers indicate.

On March 14, 2014, Recar unlawfully entered a De Soto home and sodomized a woman who was asleep inside, the probable-cause statement said.

About two months earlier, on Jan. 26, 2014, he was found at an apartment in the 900 block of North Second Street in De Soto with items commonly used to make methamphetamine, like packs of decongestant, lithium batteries, drain cleaner, muriatic acid, a coffee grinder with a white powdery residue on it, cold packs, funnels, coffee filters, and containers containing liquids or with a chemical odor, the report said

Recar, formerly of Piedmont and before that Sullivan, pleaded guilty to the charges, and on Jan. 16, he was sentenced by Jefferson County Div. 1 Circuit Judge Robert G. Wilkins to seven years in prison for the sodomy charge.

On Feb. 5, Wilkins sentenced him to seven years for the drug trafficking charge.

However, the two terms are to be served concurrently, or at the same time, according to the report.

Jefferson County assistant prosecuting attorney Catherine A. Crowley handled the sodomy case, and assistant prosecuting attorney Trisha C. Stefanski handled the drug trafficking case.

Recar previously served time in prison for operating a vehicle without a valid license, at least his third offense, connected to a May 2007 incident in Madison County, according to the report.

In addition, he served jail time for two misdemeanor resisting arrest charges stemming from December 2013 and August 2012 incidents, both in Jefferson County, as well as for misdemeanor domestic assault tied to a January 2011 incident in Wayne County and for misdemeanor trespassing stemming from an August 2002 incident in St. Louis, court documents indicate.

Recar also was sentenced to two years’ probation following misdemeanor DWI and leaving the scene of an accident charges connected to an April 2002 incident in Jefferson County, as well as to 730 days’ probation for a misdemeanor DWI tied to a January 2009 incident in Wayne County, according to court records.

He currently is in the Eastern Reception, Diagnostic and Correctional Center in Bonne Terre.
