De Soto man charged with assault, burglary

A De Soto man has been charged with four felonies after allegedly breaking into a residence and threatening a person with a knife.

Jeremy E. Stevens, 43, of De Soto has been charged with first-degree burglary, second-degree assault, armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon.

As of Tuesday, he was being held in the Jefferson County Jail in Hillsboro on a $100,000 bond.

According to the probable-cause statement, Stevens broke into a residence on Oct. 2 where two people were inside and threatened them. He attempted to stab one person with a knife, but the victim was able to block the knife with a pillow, run away and call police.
