De Soto man charged for alleged drug possession

Todd Johnson

Todd Michael Johnson, 49, of De Soto has been accused of having methamphetamine and two smoking devices after being arrested on a warrant last year in De Soto, according to court documents.

The Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office on Feb. 6 charged Johnson with felony possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor, court records show.

Johnson was arrested on Feb. 10, and as of Feb. 12, he was being held on a $5,090 bond at the Jefferson County Jail in Hillsboro, jail records said.

According to a probable-cause statement filed by De Soto Police, Johnson was arrested on July 28 on an active warrant. After taking Johnson to the Police Station, an officer allegedly found Johnson had a bag with a clear crystal-like substance inside it and two glass smoking devices.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol tested the substance and reported it tested positive as meth, the report said.

According to court records, Johnson is a prior and persistent offender. He was found guilty of two charges of tampering with utilities and one charge of stealing in September 1994 in Jefferson County.
