A 27-year-old De Soto man was arrested early Sept. 7 for allegedly burglarizing a home in the 600 block of South Third Street. De Soto Police got a call at 2:17 a.m. about the burglary, Police Chief Jeff McCreary said.
He said the victim was out of town on vacation at the time, but the home had a security system that alerted the victim about the burglary and police were contacted. Officers responded to the home and reportedly found the man in the home, McCreary said.
He said the suspect did not comply with police commands and ran out the back door of the house. However, police chased him and caught him a short time later.
McCreary said nothing was stolen from the home because the burglary was reported so quickly. He said De Soto Police will seek charges against the man through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for second-degree burglary.
