The Jefferson Square Laundromat in De Soto was burglarized for the second time in a month on March 3.
At 4:25 a.m., De Soto Police were dispatched to the laundromat at 40 Jefferson Square because of an alarm sounding.
When officers arrived, they found glass broken out of a door and the housing cabinet on a coin-pushing game machine destroyed, Police Chief Rick Draper reported.
The estimated loss is $3,500 for the game and $400 for the door, for a total of $3,900, he reported.
Police are looking for a man who was wearing a blue scarf around his face, as well as a tan hat, camouflage jacket, blue jean, dark gloves and tan boots with black toes, the report said.
A witness saw a green van leaving the scene shortly after the alarm went off.
Video surveillance revealed that the suspect threw a sledge hammer through the front door to enter the building, the report said.
“The video shows the suspect retrieve the sledge hammer and immediately begin breaking into the coin game machine,” the report said.
A similar incident occurred Feb. 8 at the same business, Draper said.
“It was the exact same scenario,” he said.
Police believe the same person is responsible but need a solid lead in the case, Draper said.
