De Soto-area man allegedly threatens woman with gun

Quentin Christopher

Quentin Malachi Christopher, 21, who lives southeast of De Soto, has been accused of attacking and threatening to shoot a woman with whom he is in a relationship. He allegedly choked the woman and pointed a sawed-off shotgun at her in his home, according to court documents.

Christopher has been charged with first-degree domestic assault, a class B felony punishable by five to 15 years in prison; unlawful possession of a weapon, a class D felony that carries a penalty of up to seven years in prison; and armed criminal action, an unclassified felony punishable by three to 15 years in prison, court records show.

He was arrested Jan. 18, and as of Jan. 20, he was being held without bond at the Jefferson County Jail in Hillsboro, court documents said.

A Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office deputy was called Jan. 18 to the home due to a disturbance. A woman told the deputy she was arguing with Christopher before he allegedly attacked her, according to the probable-cause statement filed in the case.

Christopher allegedly pushed the woman down before kicking her and stepping on her hair. The woman said he also choked her before she was able to fight back and force him to release his grip, the report said.

Christopher then got a sawed-off shotgun and allegedly pointed it at her and threatened to shoot her. The woman also said he pressed the gun against her side, according to the report.

The woman was on a video call with someone with whom she works, and that person saw the alleged attack, the report said.

Deputies were allowed to search the home, and they allegedly found a sawed-off shotgun with a defaced serial number in a bedroom closet, according to the report.
