Crystal City Police arrested a 24-year-old St. Louis man who was wanted for first-degree murder in St. Louis. The man was arrested about 1:30 p.m. April 3 at the Walmart store on Truman Boulevard in the Twin City area where he was working, Police Chief Chad Helms reported.
“Our department had actively been looking for this subject and his brother since March 15, after one of our officers was involved in a vehicle pursuit,” Helms reported. “We were unable to take anyone into custody at the time of the original pursuit, but we did gain information … that the driver of the vehicle and his brother both were wanted for murder first degree … and they both were frequently coming into Crystal City.”
However, St. Louis Police arrested the 24-year-old’s brother, Helms said.
“So, we knew we were looking for one individual at this point,” Helms said. “Our detectives were able to gain the whereabouts of the suspect through interviewing many different individuals.”
Helms said they were surprised when they realized the suspect was so close.
“This is outstanding police work by our whole department, and I am glad we were able to take the subject into custody without anyone getting hurt. Both of these subjects were considered very dangerous,” Helms reported.
The man was booked at the Crystal City Police Department and St. Louis Police came and picked him up, Helms said.
