Nicholas Ryan Whitman, 20, of Crystal City has been sentenced to five years in prison following burglary and stealing charges, court records show.
On Jan. 29, Whitman unlawfully entered a home on Manderley Court in Festus and stole a TV worth at least $500, the report said.
Ten days earlier, on Jan. 19, he stole a Crystal City woman’s purse and its contents, which were valued at $500 or more, according to the report.
Whitman pleaded guilty to the charges and on Oct. 23, he was sentenced by Jefferson County Div. 6 Circuit Judge Troy Cardona to two five-year terms, one each for the burglary and the stealing charges tied to the Jan. 29 incident and to four years for the other incident. Those terms are to be served concurrently, or at the same time, said Jefferson County assistant prosecuting attorney Jacob T. Costello, who handled the cases.
Whitman previously pleaded guilty to unlawful use of a weapon and theft of a firearm, both felonies, stemming from an Oct. 2011 incident in Jefferson County and was sentenced in August 2012 to two four-year terms, but those sentences were suspended and he received five years probation, according to court papers.
He also pleaded guilty to felony burglary tied to an October 2012 incident in Jefferson County and was sentenced in August 2014 to four years.
The sentences from October will also be served concurrently with that four-year term, Costello said.
Whitman currently is in the Eastern Reception, Diagnostic and Correctional Center in Bonne Terre.
