Festus Police arrested a 20-year-old Crystal City man accused of hitting another man with a pipe or metal bat during a street fight. The incident occurred about 7 p.m. April 17 in the 400 block of Ann Street, Festus Police Chief Tim Lewis said.
The victim, a 33-year-old Pevely man, was transported to an area hospital for treatment.
Lewis said he did not know what the men were fighting about.
“It looks like these two had some kind of verbal argument, he said.
“Officers were dispatched to a report of a fight between two men,” Lewis said. “(The suspect) had fled the scene when officers arrived. He fled in a blue Nissan and was stopped a short time later.”
The man was arrested, transported to the Police station, booked and released pending application for warrants. Lewis said Festus Police will seek charges against the man for assault and marijuana possession.
