A 23-year-old Dittmer man has been arrested and a 25-year-old Dittmer man is being sought after a Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office deputy reportedly saw them riding stolen motorcycles. Later, the 23-year-old man was arrested during his probation and parole hearing, spokesman Grant Bissell said.

At about 3:55 p.m. June 20, a deputy saw the men riding a 2004 Kawasaki ZX-6 and a 2004 Yamaha YZF-R6 in the parking lot outside the Raintree Market, 5997 Hwy. B, in the Hillsboro area. The deputy recognized the motorcycles as ones that previously had been reported stolen in Hillsboro, the report said.

When the deputy pulled his cruiser into the parking lot, both men ran away. They left behind the motorcycles and a woman who was riding with one of the men, according to the report.

The younger man was arrested June 21, but as of June 30, the older man had not been located, Bissell said. He said the Sheriff’s Office is seeking charges against the men through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for possession of stolen vehicles and resisting arrest.
