The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the theft of catalytic converters from six vehicles at Fenton Self Storage, 359 S. Old Hwy. 141. The cost to replace the stolen catalytic converters was estimated at about $13,500, authorities reported.
The thefts were discovered when one of the victims started her recreational vehicle on June 9 and noticed it was running loudly and the catalytic converter was cut off. During the investigation, deputies found that catalytic converters had been stolen from three other RVs, as well as a Ford Explorer and a Ford van, the report said.
One of the victims said he last drove his vehicle in December 2021, and the other five victims had driven their vehicles on either May 30 or May 31, according to the report.
As of June 14, none of the catalytic converters had been recovered, and no suspects had been identified, spokesman Grant Bissell said. Anyone with information about the thefts should call the Sheriff’s Office at 636-797-5515.
