Arnold Police are investigating the theft of a catalytic converter cut off an SUV rented from Budget Rental. The SUV, a 2021 Mitsubishi Outlander, was parked outside the Quality Inn and Suites, 3610 West Outer Road, when the converter was stolen, police reported.
A 54-year-old Lakewood, Wash., woman told officers she parked the SUV outside the hotel at about 5 p.m. Aug. 23. Then, at about 10:10 a.m. Aug. 24, she discovered the converter had been cut off the vehicle, the report said.
The cost to repair the Outlander was estimated at $2,000, according to the report.
As of Sept. 1, the converter had not been recovered, and no suspects had been identified, Detective Lt. Jeremey Christopher said. Anyone with information about the incident should call Arnold Police at 636-296-3204.
