Arnold Police are investigating the theft of a catalytic converter from a pickup that was parked at I-55 Store It, 3401 Robinson Drive. It looked like the culprit cut a hole in the fence surrounding the business to get inside and steal the converter, police reported.
A 51-year-old Fenton man discovered the catalytic converter had been cut off his 2011 Ford F-250 and then called police at about 8 a.m. April 8 to report the theft. The man told police he had parked the pickup at the storage facility at about 5 p.m. April 5, and then when he started it on April 8, he noticed it sounded loud and discovered the converter had been cut off, the report said.
Arnold Police reported the cost to fix the pickup was estimated at about $150.
During the investigation, an officer noticed the rear doors on two enclosed trailers were open at the facility, but the department had not located the trailers’ owners as of April 13 to determine if anything was missing from them, Detective Lt. Jason Valentine said.
While investigating the trailers, the officer spotted the hole cut in the fence that was large enough for someone to crawl through. The cost to repair the fence was estimated at $300, the report said.
As of April 13, the converter had not been recovered, and no suspects had been identified, Valentine said. Anyone with information about the incident should call Arnold Police at 636-296-3204.
