The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is trying to identify a woman who allegedly stole a car from outside a Circle K gas station in unincorporated Fenton and crashed the car a short time later. The theft happened at about noon June 26, the Sheriff’s Office reported.

The car, a 2013 Toyota Corolla, was involved in a single-vehicle accident at Bear Creek Road and Midridge Road after it was stolen from the gas station, 105 Delores Drive. The car had to be towed from the accident site, the report said.

The victim said he left the car unlocked with the keys in the ignition when he went into the gas station’s convenience store. Surveillance footage allegedly shows the woman, who had two dogs with her, exit the store, get into the Corolla and drive away, according to the report.

As of July 14, the Sheriff’s Office had not identified the woman, spokesman Grant Bissell said. He asks anyone with information about the incident to call the Sheriff’s Office at 636-797-5515.
