The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the theft of parts from a 1968 Chevrolet Camaro that had been stored inside a locker at Budget Storage in the 12000 block of Hwy. 21 in the De Soto area.
Sometime between October and noon on April 16, someone got into a storage locker that adjoined the one where the Camaro was parked and forced through a plywood section of the wall to get to the car, the Sheriff’s Office reported.
Stolen items included two fuel gauges, a fuel pump, a water pump, a tachometer, two shift lights, an oil gauge, a water gauge, an MSD distributor and electronics box, an air shifter, a fuel switch and other parts.
In addition, the lock on the inside of the storage locker door where the car was parked was damaged.
Altogether the stolen items and damage were estimated at $7,000 to $10,000, according to the report.
As of April 24, the items had not been recovered and no arrests had been made, said Capt. Ron Arnhart of the Sheriff’s Office.
He asks anyone with information about the incident to call the Sheriff’s Office tip line at 636-797-5515.
