A camper similar to this one recently was stolen from a Fenton-area RV park.

A camper recently was stolen from the Covered Bridge RV Park, which is off Hwy. 141 north of Romaine Creek Road in Fenton. The theft happened about 9:40 p.m. July 7 and was reported just before 9 a.m. on July 15, after the owners showed up take the camper for vacation and found it missing, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reports.

The camper, a 2014 Cougar XLite, is dark gray and white with brown and gray stripes. It is worth an estimated $20,000, the report said.

After the camper was discovered missing, the RV park management provided the Sheriff’s Office with surveillance footage that showed what looked like a Dodge pickup drive into the park and stop in front of the camper. Then, a person got out of the front passenger side of the pickup and walked behind the camper before getting back into the pickup, which then drove away, hauling the camper away, according to the report.

As of July 26, the camper had not been recovered. There were no suspects or arrests either, said Detective Sgt. Jim Kausler of the Sheriff’s Office. He asks anyone with information about the theft to call the Sheriff’s Office tip line at 636-797-5515.
