Ex-Jefferson County man arrested, charged for burglary in St. Louis County

Cameron Shinkle

A former Jefferson County man has been charged with two felonies and a misdemeanor following an arrest in St. Louis County. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reported he is a suspect in at least 17 cases in Jefferson County and believe he may have victimized more residents.

In social media posts, the Sheriff’s Office reported Cameron Shinkle, 34, of Cuba is a suspect in cases involving stolen vehicles, burglaries and property damage. The Sheriff’s Office said in the post on Thursday, Aug. 1, that many of the cases had been reported recently.

The department asks anyone who may have been a victim of Shinkle and have not reported the incident to call detectives at 636-797-5515. Shinkle has lived in Arnold and De Soto.

When Shinkle was arrested by St. Louis County Police, he was on probation after pleading guilty to a possession of a controlled substance charge on Feb. 15 in Jefferson County. He had been sentenced to 10 years in prison, but that sentence was suspended and he was placed on five years’ probation, court records show.

On Aug. 1, the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged Shinkle with second-degree burglary, a class D felony punishable by up to seven years in prison; resisting arrest, a class E felony that carries a penalty of up to four years in prison; and stealing, a class A misdemeanor punishable by up to one year in jail and a possible fine of up to $2,000, according to court documents.

Shinkle was being held on a $50,000 cash-only bond at the St. Louis County Jail as of Aug. 1, court records said.

According to a probable-cause statement filed by St. Louis County Police, Shinkle was arrested Aug. 1 after officers responded to a burglar alarm at Fresenius Kidney Care, 13134 Tesson Ferry Road, in south St. Louis County. An officer saw a glass backdoor was shattered and blood stains in the building’s breakroom.

Another officer heard a loud bang on the other side of a fence that separates the dialysis center from Joe & Suzy’s Produce, 13116 Tesson Ferry Road. The officer found Shinkle on the other side of the fence holding several items, the report said.

Shinkle also was standing near a trailer and a pickup that had its hood open. When Shinkle saw the officer, he allegedly ran away, according to the report.

The officer chased Shinkle and used a stun gun to subdue him. Shinkle was bleeding from his chin and forearm, the report said.

The officer allegedly found a Dell laptop and keys to the pickup, which both belonged to Joe & Suzy’s Produce, and a 2-liter soda bottle that was taken from the dialysis center’s breakroom, according to the report.

Court documents show Shrink has been convicted for numerous felonies in Jefferson, Franklin and St. Louis counties since 2007.
