Eureka Police are investigating the theft of two trail cameras that had been set up on a piece of property near the intersection of Wengler Road and Second Street in Eureka to catch people dumping trash there. The theft was reported about 1:45 p.m. Feb. 23, Eureka Police reported.

A 23-year-old Chesterfield man, whose grandfather owns the property, said the cameras had been up for about two weeks before they were stolen. The cameras were secured by cable, and the locks on the cable were cut, the report said.

Together, the cameras were valued at $235, according to the report.

As of March 1, the cameras had not been recovered and there were no suspects, Capt. David Wilson said. Anyone with information about the theft is asked to call Eureka Police at 636-938-6600.
