A 2013 Cadillac ATS that was stolen from outside a home in Imperial was later recovered in Festus. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is still investigating the theft to identify a suspect, authorities reported.
Deputies were called on July 13 to a home in the 1600 block of Prehistoric Hill Drive in Imperial by a woman who said she was borrowing the 2013 Cadillac ATS from someone else. The woman who reported the theft said she parked the car at about 11:30 p.m. July 12, and it was gone the following morning, the report said.
The Cadillac’s doors were not locked, and the key fob was left inside the car, according to the report.
A surveillance video showed someone wearing dark clothing approaching the Cadillac at about 4:50 a.m. July 13. The person was allegedly seen getting into the vehicle and driving away, the report said.
As of July 17, the person allegedly seen in the video stealing the Cadillac had not been identified, spokesman Grant Bissell said. He asks anyone with information about the theft to call the Sheriff’s Office at 636-797-5515.
