All the Details auto detailing shop in the Jefferson County portion of Fenton was damaged by a fire that broke out while crews were replacing the roof on May 6.

High Ridge Fire Chief John Barton said the fire district responded to a call at 4:07 p.m. for a commercial structure fire at 2250 N. Lark Drive. A roofing crew was replacing the flat roof on the building when the fire started, he said.

“Workers were spreading adhesive across the roof near a skylight when they saw a spark and the glue caught fire,” Barton said. “The roofing crew put out the fire before firefighters arrived, using dry chemical extinguishers, a garden hose and buckets of water.”

Firefighters entered the building to check if the fire spread and used a thermal imaging camera to inspect the roof, he said.

“No fire extension was found inside the structure,” Barton said. “Damage was limited to charring of the foam board insulation around the skylight.”

Barton said the fire marshal investigated the fire and determined it was accidental. He said the marshal said static electricity could have been the ignition source for the fire.

High Ridge Fire was assisted by the Fenton Fire Protection District. The last crew left the scene at 5:05 p.m.
