Bradley Buchholz, 48, of Eureka has been charged with third-degree domestic assault, a class E felony punishable by up to four years in prison, and fourth-degree domestic assault, a class A misdemeanor that carries a penalty of up to one year in a jail and a fine of up to $2,000, court records show.
A St. Louis County grand jury indicted Buchholz on Jan. 8. The St. Louis Prosecuting Attorney’s Office initially charged him for domestic assault on Dec. 1 following a Nov. 30 arrest, according to court documents.
According to the case’s probable-cause statement, Buchholz’s wife said they were arguing when they returned to their home in November. She said Buchholz told her to leave the house, but she refused, the report said.
Buchholz then allegedly grabbed her by the neck and threw her to the ground. He then took her cell phone and threw it into a wooded area behind the house, according to the report.
Buchholz told investigators the physical altercation did not occur, but he allegedly admitted to throwing the cell phone into the wooded area, the report said.
Two other people were in the home at the time, and they told investigators Buchholz physically assaulted his wife and threw her cell phone away, according to the report.
