A counterfeit $100 bill was passed at the I-55 Motor Plaza in Pevely on Dec. 28.
Pevely Police received a call from the business at 7:19 a.m. Employees believed the bill had been passed during an overnight shift.
“This is the first time we’ve gotten a hundred-dollar bill in a while,” Police Chief Ron Weeks said. “The most recent ones were twenties.”
Weeks said it wasn’t the first time counterfeit money had been passed at the I-55 Motor Plaza.
The bill was turned over to the U. S. Secret Service in St. Louis.
