A 2016 BMW X3 stolen from the QuikTrip gas station, 1069 Jeffco Blvd., in Arnold was recovered the same day in the Hillsboro area. The SUV was left unlocked and running outside the gas station, Arnold Police reported.
A 69-year-old Bonne Terre woman said she parked outside the gas station’s convenience store at about 12:30 a.m. Feb. 25 and after she and a friend went into the store, someone stole the SUV. Later that day, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office found the SUV in the 5000 block of Hwy. B west of Hillsboro, the report said.
The BMW had interior damage, but it was still operational, according to the report.
As of Feb. 29, no suspects had been identified, Detective Lt. Jeremy Christopher said. He asks anyone with information about the theft to call Arnold Police at 636-296-3204.
“We would like to remind people of the importance of making sure the vehicle is turned off and locked prior to leaving it unattended,” Christopher said.
