A 30-year-old Barnhart man was arrested after Arnold Police pulled over the car he was driving and inside reportedly found 63 checks issued to other people. Officers also allegedly found the man with a substance believed to be methamphetamine, Arnold Police reported.

At about 6:45 p.m. Sept. 10, Arnold Police saw the man driving a 2017 Toyota Corolla and pulled it over in the Walmart parking lot, 2201 Michigan Ave., because the car had license plates issued to a Ford Escape. During the traffic stop, police learned the man was wanted on a warrant from St. Louis County Police for felony burglary, the report said.

After arresting the driver, the officers found a black piece of paper in one of his pants’ pockets and inside the paper was a white crystal-like substance believed to be meth. They also allegedly found the checks, as well as three Social Security cards that did not belong to the driver, someone else’s driver’s license and a St. Louis University parking card that did not belong to the driver, according to the report.

The man was taken to the Arnold Police Station, where he was booked and held for St. Louis County Police. Depending on results of the drug analysis, Arnold Police will seek charges against the man through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for possession of a controlled substance and forgery, Cpl. Brett Ackermann said.
