A 67-year-old Barnhart man was arrested for allegedly using a pickup to chase a 43-year-old St. Louis and then brandishing a weapon. The incident occurred about 4 p.m. April 16, beginning in Herculaneum City Park and ending near the Joachim Golf Course, Herculaneum Police reported.

The St. Louis man allegedly was having a dispute with a 39-year-old Barnhart woman at the park, and then the Barnhart man, who is related to woman, arrived at the park driving a 2002 GMC Sierra. The St. Louis man ran away, and the Barnhart man used the pickup to chase him and allegedly tried to run him down, the report said.

The St. Louis man ran across Hwy. 61-67 to the Joachim Golf Course, where a group of area students were playing golf, and he yelled for the golfers to call 911. Shortly thereafter, the Barnhart man arrived, parked the pickup and got out of it, armed with a .38-caliber revolver, according to the report.

The Barnhart man allegedly brandished the weapon and threatened the St. Louis man before returning to the pickup. He drove west on Scenic Drive, and a Herculaneum Police officer traveling east on the road pulled over the pickup in the 900 block of Scenic Drive and arrested him, the report said.

The man was transported to the police station where he was booked and then held for Pevely Police, who wanted him on a misdemeanor warrant, Herculaneum Police Chief Mark Tulgetske said.

Herculaneum Police will seek charges against the Barnhart man through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for unlawful use of a weapon and first-degree assault, Tulgetske said.
