Authorities are seeking the public’s help to find a car allegedly used in crimes in Horine early Tuesday (July 7).

A Pevely Police officer spotted and pursued the vehicle after the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office issued an alert for it, but the driver got away, said Capt. Larry Miller of the Pevely Police Department.

He said the Sheriff’s Office described the vehicle as a dark, four-door, passenger car, possibly a Buick Regal, with a Missouri dealer license plate. It reportedly was involved in an incident that occurred in the 2300 block of Oak Forest Drive near Cherry Lane in Horine, where there was a theft.

The Pevely officer saw a car matching the description traveling east on Hwy. Z as it passed the McDonald’s restaurant.

“The officer activated his lights and siren to attempt to stop the vehicle, which then accelerated,” Miller said. “The vehicle looped back around from (Hwy. 61-67) to I-55 and accelerated heading northbound. The officer terminated the pursuit before Richardson Road (south of Arnold).”

Anyone with information is asked to call Pevely Police at 636-475-4498 or the Sheriff’s Office at 636-797-5515.
