Tyler Michael Aubuchon, 27, of Hillsboro has been sentenced to 12 years in prison following several drug and burglary charges, as well as other felony charges, according to court records.

On March 23, 2016, Aubuchon was found in Festus with heroin, the probable-cause statement said.

Two months later, on May 21, 2016, Aubuchon was found at a Festus park with heroin and valium, the report said.

On Aug. 17, 2016, Aubuchon burglarized Rich’s Frozen Custard in Festus and stole $1,200 in cash and coins, the probable-cause statement said.

The next day, on Aug. 18, 2016, Aubuchon, who already was wanted on outstanding warrants, was found cashing in a large number of coins at the UMB bank in Arnold. He was searched and found with methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and about $755 in cash and coins, which had previously been stolen in Festus, the report said.

Later that month, on Aug. 29, 2016, an employee from Zion Lutheran Church on Central Avenue in Pevely found Aubuchon inside the church office before he ran away. He was later apprehended and admitted to entering the church through an open window and stealing a laptop computer worth about $344. In addition, the church reported that an iPad, coins, T-shirts and gift cards, altogether valued at $555, were missing, the probable-cause statement said.

On that same day, Aubuchon burglarized Spinners Coin Laundry in Pevely, damaging a soap dispenser and two game machines and stealing $65. The damage was estimated at $280, the probable-cause statement said.

Then, on Sept. 23, 2016, Aubuchon was stopped in Festus because he matched a description of a man who had been seen breaking into vehicles. He was searched and found with a wallet that contained credit cards and $79 in cash that had been stolen from a vehicle parked along Cromwell Road in Festus, the probable-cause statement said.

Aubuchon pleaded guilty to four counts of felony possession of a controlled substance; one count of first-degree burglary; two counts of second-degree burglary; and two counts of receiving stolen property, all felonies, as well as misdemeanor stealing and property damage in connection with all the cases.

On April 10, Jefferson County Div. 6 Circuit Judge Troy A. Cardona sentenced him to 12 years in prison for the burglary charge stemming from the incident at the church and to eight seven-year terms in prison for the other felony charges, as well as to two 180-day jail sentences for the misdemeanors. However, all the terms are to be served concurrently, or at the same time. In addition, Aubuchon may be released early if he successfully completes a 24-month treatment program, court papers show.

Jefferson County assistant prosecuting attorney Jacob T. Costello handled the cases.

Aubuchon currently is in the Eastern Reception, Diagnostic and Correctional Center in Bonne Terre.
