A 36-year-old Arnold woman recently was arrested for allegedly stealing a wallet from an employee at the Las Fuentes restaurant, 2198 Michigan Ave., in Arnold. The wallet contained debit cards, car keys and a driver’s license, Arnold Police report.

The theft happened about 6:25 p.m. Nov. 3, when the woman allegedly took the wallet, which was left near the hostess station, the report said.

Video surveillance footage allegedly shows the woman steal the wallet. Later, On Nov. 4, while an Arnold Police officer was checking on prisoners in the Arnold Jail, he recognized a women in one of the cells as the person allegedly seen stealing the wallet on the footage, Detective Lt. James Jones said.

He said the woman was being held in the jail on outstanding warrants. She had been taken into custody just before 1 a.m. on Nov. 4 after Arnold Police got a call about a suspicious vehicle on Judy Drive. When officers arrived, they found the woman, along with a 32-year-old St. Louis woman, in a vehicle there. Both women were wanted on felony warrants in other jurisdictions. So, they were booked and held at the Arnold Jail for the other law enforcement agencies. The Arnold woman also was booked for the theft of the wallet, and Arnold Police will seek felony stealing charges against her through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, Jones said.

He said the stolen wallet was not recovered.
