Arnold Police arrested a 36-year-old Arnold woman who appeared to be driving while under the influence of drugs with a child in the car. The woman was arrested at the BP gas station, 1502 Jeffco Blvd., police reported.
Officers got a call at about 2:40 p.m. Feb. 20 about a 2014 Ford Focus traveling erratically on Jeffco Boulevard, and they found the car parked outside the gas station. The woman was standing next to the Focus when officers pulled into the parking lot, the report said.
Officers said the woman appeared to be under the influence of something, and she reportedly told police she hadn’t been drinking but had taken a medication called Soboxone, which is used to treat people with opiate addictions. She said there were no illegal drugs in the car, but officers searched the Focus and inside her purse, they allegedly found Soboxone strips that had prescription labels peeled off the packaging and white pills believed to Xanax, according to the report.
A 4-year-old child was in the car. The child’s mother was contacted, and the mom took custody of the child, who was not harmed, police reported.
The driver was arrested and taken to the Police Station, where she was booked and released pending application for warrants. Depending on results of the drug analysis, Arnold Police will seek charges against the woman through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for possession of a controlled substance and endangering the welfare of a child, Detective Lt. Jason Valentine said.
