woman in handcuffs

A 32-year-old Arnold woman was arrested for suspicion of driving while intoxicated and allegedly attempting to flee from police, Arnold Police reported.

Authorities were called to the Quality Inn and Suites, 3610 West Outer Road, at about 9:50 p.m. April 14 because the woman appeared intoxicated and allegedly was disturbing other guests. When police arrived, the woman got into a 2004 Mitsubishi SUV in the parking lot, the report said.

The officer pulled behind the SUV and turned on the lights and siren, but the woman allegedly drove away anyway, first driving over a curb and then backing out of the spot, almost striking the police vehicle. She left the hotel and turned onto westbound Vogel Road, allegedly driving 90 mph in a 40-mph zone, at which point the officer ceased the pursuit, according to the report.

But, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office found the SUV 11 minutes later after the woman was involved in an accident at Tomahawk Drive and Lonedell Road, the report said

The woman refused a breath analysis test, but she was taken into custody and then transported to St. Anthony’s Medical Center in south St. Louis County after making suicidal statements, according to the report.

Arnold Police issued her summonses to appear in Municipal Court for DWI and resisting arrest, Lt. Tom Leassner said.
