The Walmart store in Arnold opened about two hours later than usual today (Feb. 21) after an early-morning bomb threat. The store received a call from a blocked number threatening the business at 2201 Michigan Ave., Arnold Police reported.

The call came in at 3 a.m., and employees in the building were evacuated before police were contacted. Police dogs from the St. Louis County, Creve Coeur and St. Charles Police Departments were called to the store to search the business. No explosives were found, according to the report.

Arnold Police Cpl. Brett Ackermann said the department has not been able to track the number used to call the store.

“Without being able to track a number, it is impossible to figure out who called it in,” he said. “I don’t know what the exact threat was, but as far as I know, they didn’t threaten any individual.”

The store, which typically opens at 6 a.m., opened at about 8 a.m., Arnold Police reported.

Ackermann said Arnold Police will increase its patrols at the business today, but investigators do not believe anyone is in danger.

“We don’t think at this point there is a threat to employees or customers of Walmart,” he said.
