Arnold Police are seeking child abuse charges against a 33-year-old Herculaneum man for allegedly striking a 7-year-old boy. The alleged abuse occurred between 10 p.m. July 10 and 5:45 p.m. July 11 at a home on Apple Drive in Arnold, police reported.
The boy’s mother had been in a relationship with the suspect, the report said.
The suspect reportedly struck the boy repeatedly, leaving him with extensive bruising all over his body, according to the report.
The suspect was arrested in Morgan County on an unrelated charge and was in the custody of the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office as of Thursday (July 25). After the suspect is released from Morgan County custody, Arnold Police will take him into custody and seek the child abuse charge against him through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, Arnold Police Lt. Clinton Wooldridge reported.
