Arnold Police are hoping some DNA samples taken from a stolen pickup could help them identify a suspect who allegedly stole the truck while it was parked at the Circle K gas station, 2001 Richardson Road. It was stolen at about 6 a.m. May 14 and then recovered at about 9:15 p.m. the same day in St. Louis, police reported.
A 58-year-old Arnold man told police he had rented the 2020 GMC Sierra from Enterprise Rental. He also said the pickup was stolen after he left it unlocked with the engine running when he went into the gas station’s convenience store, the report said.
Surveillance video showed a red Dodge Ram park next to the Sierra, and then the driver of the Ram got out and drove away in the GMC pickup. Another person inside the Ram then drove that pickup away. The Ram had no front license plate, a large rear hitch and orange lights on the roof, according to the report.
The stolen pickup’s OnStar system was used to locate the pickup, which was found in the 5700 block of Minnesota Avenue in St. Louis. The Sierra was returned to Enterprise Rental, Capt. Rich Shular said.
As of May 28, a suspect had not been identified, and the Ram seen on the surveillance video had not been located, Shular said. He asks anyone with information about the incident to call Arnold Police at 636-296-3204.
