Arnold Police are investigating several vehicle break-ins along Rosedale Drive and Chelsea Court, both off Richardson Road. Five vehicles were broken into on Rosedale, and a pickup and a car were stolen in two of those incidents. Another vehicle was broken into on Chelsea, which is across Richardson from Rosedale, a report said.
Four of the break-ins happened overnight between Oct. 10 and Oct. 11, and the other two break-ins happened overnight between Oct. 16 and Oct. 17. As of Nov. 10, there were no suspects or arrests, Detective Lt. James Jones said.
One of the break-ins happened about 4:50 a.m. Oct. 11 in the 3100 block of Rosedale, where a silver 2005 GMC pickup was broken into and then stolen. The truck was recovered Oct. 22 in St. Louis, Jones said.
Another vehicle break-in happened just before 5 a.m. Oct. 11 in the 3200 block of Rosedale, where a witness reportedly saw a man break out a rear window in a vehicle parked there and then leave in what looked like the silver pickup stolen earlier on Rosedale. In that break-in, the culprit stole a wallet that contained credit cards and $3 in cash. As of Nov. 10, the wallet and credit cards had not been recovered, Jones said.
Another break-in happened about 5:45 a.m. Oct. 11 in the 3200 block of Rosedale, according to the victim, who said she was awakened at that time by a car alarm going off and then found a window in her vehicle broken out. Nothing, however, was stolen from the vehicle, the report said.
A fourth break-in happened sometime late on Oct. 10 or early on Oct. 11 in the 2100 block of Chelsea, where the culprit broke the front passenger window in a vehicle and stole a purse that contained credit cards. Those items had not been recovered as of Nov. 10, Jones said.
The other two vehicle break-ins occurred between 5 p.m. Oct. 16 and 11:30 a.m. Oct. 17 in the 3100 block of Rosedale, where someone stole a 2003 Kia Rio, which had been left unlocked with the keys inside. At that same address, the culprit also got inside an unlocked Cadillac SUV and stole a Makita drill valued at $250, the report said.
While Arnold Police were investigating that incident, a Buick Century was found abandoned nearby. It had been reported stolen from St. Louis, and it’s possible the culprit had driven that vehicle to the scene and left it behind after stealing the Rio, Jones said.
He said the Rio had not been recovered as of Nov. 10.
Jones said all the break-ins are likely related. Anyone with information about any of the incidents is asked to call Arnold Police at 636-296-3204.
