Arnold Police are investigating more than a dozen thefts from vehicles over the past nine days or so.
Several thefts occurred last weekend (June 10-12), some of those in the north part of town off Jeffco Boulevard just north of the Fox schools campus. Other thefts from the past weekend were in the Manors at Hickory Square subdivision off Jeffco Boulevard just south of Arnold City Hall, according to Arnold Police.
On June 8, Arnold Police received at least 10 calls about thefts from vehicles parked on streets off Old Lemay Ferry Road and other parts of the city.
Earlier, on June 4, there were two thefts from vehicles in the 2500 block of Wildfire Court, which also is off Old Lemay Ferry Road.
Some of the thefts were from unlocked vehicles. In some cases, the culprits broke windows to get inside the vehicles and steal items, Arnold Police Detective Lt. James Jones said.
In the most recent thefts – the ones over the past weekend – some of the stolen items included purses, guns, money and a notebook computer, the report said.
When purses were stolen, the culprits typically took the cash out of them and then left the purses behind, Jones said.
In the thefts reported June 8, stolen items included guns, medication, cash, a purse and a computer tablet, according to the report.
In one of the June 4 thefts, a revolver, ammunition, $1,700 in cash, tools and other items, altogether valued at $5,085, were stolen from an unlocked Dodge Ram pickup. In the other case, someone got inside an unlocked truck and stole an iPod, medication, cash and other items valued at $700, Arnold Police reported.
While the thefts were scattered across different parts of Arnold, there are similarities, so they could all be related, Jones said.
“The same type of items were stolen,” he said.
Jones said there is surveillance footage from two of the incidents, but as of this morning (June 13), there were no suspects or arrests.
“We’re working on that,” he said today.
Jones advises people to lock their vehicles and to not leave purses, guns and other valuables in vehicles, especially not in plain view.
Anyone with information about the thefts is asked to call Arnold Police at 636-296-3204.
