A 29-year-old woman and a 36-year-old man, both of St. Louis, allegedly stole $1,095 worth of merchandise from Kohl’s, 2150 Michigan Ave., in Arnold. The woman allegedly used bags the two brought into the store to carry out clothes and jewelry they did not pay for, Arnold Police reported.

Officers were called to the store at about 6:50 p.m. April 3 because the man and woman were seen selecting clothes and going into the changing rooms, where an employee found numerous price tags cut off clothes and an empty shoe box, the report said.

When police arrived, they found the man in a 2010 Volkswagen Routan in the parking lot, and an officer stopped the woman as she was coming out of the store while the security alarm was going off. The woman allegedly provided a false name to the officer and attempted to pull away when he was arresting her, according to the report.

The two were arrested and taken to the Police Station, where the man was booked and released pending application for warrants, and the woman was taken to Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County for evaluation after she said she had a medical condition, the report said.

Arnold Police will seek charges through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for felony stealing against both the man and woman and for resisting arrest and providing false information against the woman, Detective Lt. Jeremy Christopher said.
