A 22-year-old Houston, Texas, man was arrested in connection with a theft at the T-Mobile store, 1280 Jeffco Blvd., in Arnold. The man was found allegedly trying to hide in a dumpster, but two other men believed to be involved in the theft got away, Arnold Police reported.
At about 1:55 p.m. May 1, the three men allegedly stole two iPhones at the store. Together, the phones are valued at $1,850; as of May 22, the phones had not been recovered, Lt. Clinton Wooldridge said.
When officers were called to the store about the alleged theft, they spotted the three men in a 2017 Kia Optima and attempted to pull over the car. However, the driver pulled into the Arnold Bowl parking lot, 1140 Jeffco Blvd., and then stopped near a wooded area and the three men ran away, the report said.
The 22-year-old was found a short time later in a dumpster near Hobby Lobby, 30 Arnold Park Mall. He was arrested and taken to the Police Station, where he was booked and released pending application for warrants, according to the report.
The three men are suspected in numerous cell phone store robberies in Texas and Missouri, along with other states, and Arnold Police are working with police in Houston to identify the other two men, Wooldridge said.
Arnold Police will seek charges against the 22-year-old through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for stealing and resisting arrest, Wooldridge said.
