A 29-year-old High Ridge man recently was arrested for alleged possession of drugs, unlawful possession of a gun and other offenses, following a short standoff with officers at a home in the 2400 block of Arnold Tenbrook Road, according to Arnold Police.
During the standoff, the man allegedly called 911 and made a bogus report about someone flourishing a gun at Captain D’s, 830 Jeffco Blvd., in Arnold, in an attempt to get police to leave the house where he was hiding, Detective Lt. James Jones said.
At 9:16 p.m. March 23, Arnold Police went to the home to arrest the man, who was wanted for allegedly fleeing from officers on Jan. 31 during a traffic stop at I-55 and Church Road in Arnold, Jones said.
At that time, the man pulled over, but when the officer got out of the patrol vehicle, the suspect took off. The man, who Arnold Police knew, also previously gave officers a false name, Jones said.
When Arnold Police went on March 23 to the home on Arnold Tenbrook looking for the man, who apparently was staying there with friends, officers could see him inside, but he, at first, refused to come to the door, Jones said.
During that time, the suspect allegedly made the bogus report and used the same false name he had given officers before, Jones said.
Eventually, the man voluntarily came outside and was taken into custody. He told officers he had ingested methamphetamine, so he was taken by Rock Township Ambulance to an area hospital for evaluation, the report said.
Officers searched the home where the man had been hiding and allegedly found a handgun, ammunition, tablets and drug paraphernalia. The man already was a convicted felon, so he wasn’t supposed to have a gun, Jones said.
In addition to possession of drugs and unlawful use of a weapon, Arnold Police will seek charges against the man through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for misusing 911, Jones said.
