Arnold Police recently responded to two calls for alleged heroin overdoses within a two-hour period on March 3.
Both calls were at businesses in the Arnold Commons development.
First, police got a call at 6:37 p.m. that a 27-year-old man who apparently had overdosed on heroin was in a restroom stall at the Dierbergs store in Arnold, Arnold Police reported.
Officers found the man with a small amount of a substance believed to be heroin, as well as paraphernalia, the report said.
He was taken by ambulance to St. Anthony’s Medical Center in St. Louis County, and as of March 7, he was still “in bad shape,” Arnold Police Capt. Robert Ruckman said.
When his condition improves, Arnold Police will seek felony drug charges against the man through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, Ruckman said.
The same evening, at 8:15 p.m., Arnold Police got a call that a 27-year-old woman was unresponsive in a room at the Value Place hotel, after she allegedly overdosed on heroin, the report said.
She had her 6- and 8-year-old daughters with her, who reported her condition to hotel management, who, in turn, called police according to the report.
The girls were turned over to Children’s Division, and the woman was taken by ambulance to St. Anthony’s Medical Center, the report said.
She is OK, Ruckman said.
Officers found drugs and paraphernalia in the room, the report said.
Arnold Police will seek charges against the woman through the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for drug possession and endangering the welfare of a child, Ruckman said.
