A mobile home at 398 Rockview Circle in Arnold was damaged by fire on July 4. In addition, two vehicles in the driveway were damaged, said Ron Harder, spokesman for the Rock Community Fire Protection District.
He said today (July 17) that that the cause of the fire is still “under investigation.”
No one was home when the fire broke out, Harder said.
At 12:29 p.m., Rock Fire got a call about the fire, and when firefighters arrived a short time later, they pulled one hose to use on the mobile home and another for the vehicles – a 2006 Nissan Pathfinder and a 1999 Buick Century, Harder said.
He said the vehicle fire was extinguished very quickly, and the mobile home fire was under control in about 30 minutes.
The home was “moderately damaged,” Harder said.
Harder said he doesn’t know how many people had been living at the home and where they’re staying while repairs are being made.
After the blaze was extinguished, firefighters remained on the scene for another hour and a half to two hours for “overhaul,” Harder said.
He said no firefighters were hurt but with the high summer temperatures, the fire district was careful to have them “rotate” and spend time in an air-conditioned ambulance the Rock Township Ambulance District had at the scene.
“They (Rock Township) work well with us,” Harder said.
