An Arnold man’s 1997 GMC Jimmy was destroyed by sparkler fireworks outside a home in the 2700 block of Sunrise Drive. The incident happened between 11 p.m. April 8 and 7:15 a.m. April 9, Arnold Police reported.

A sparkler was lit and placed inside the Jimmy, which was valued at $2,000, and destroyed the interior of the vehicle. Another sparkler was found in the gas tank, but it had not been lit, the report said.

The owner of the Jimmy told authorities he didn’t know why anyone would have targeted him and his vehicle. However, he did say the SUV had been ransacked a few weeks earlier but nothing had been stolen from it, according to the report.

There were no suspects, Arnold Police Lt. Tom Leassner said on April 19. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Arnold Police at 636-296-3204.
