A 38-year-old Arnold man lost $665 in an online video game scam. The alleged victim spent the money on gift cards and then sent the gift card information to someone he met online who was supposed to send the alleged victim Worlds of Warcraft gaming items, Arnold Police reported.
The victim said he sent the gift card information on May 26 but never received the online game items. He said the person he sent the money to claimed to live in India, the report said.
As of June 1, investigators had not determined who received the gift card information and had not recovered the lost funds, Detective Lt. Jeremy Christopher said. He said the case will be forwarded to the FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center.
