A 30-year-old Arnold man and a 28-year-old Imperial man recently were arrested in connection with the theft of a Lexus from a home in the 100 block of Patrick Place, a senior housing complex off St. John’s Church Road, Arnold Police report.

The theft was reported at 2:40 p.m. Oct. 9, when the victim called Arnold Police and said the Arnold man, who was related to her, took the 2008 Lexus without her permission, the report said.

Then, at 5:45 p.m. Oct. 12, Arnold Police got a call about a shoplifting incident at the Walmart Supercenter on Michigan Avenue and allegedly found the Arnold and Imperial men there inside the stolen Lexus, according to the report.

The two men were arrested for allegedly stealing $131.92 in merchandise from the Walmart store, as well as for tampering in connection with the stolen car, the report said.

The Arnold man already was wanted in Arnold for allegedly stealing the Lexus. He also was wanted on an outstanding warrant from Jefferson County for possession of a controlled substance, felony stealing and forgery, Arnold Police Capt. Robert Ruckman said.

The Arnold man was booked and held for the Sheriff’s Office, and the Imperial man was booked and then released pending application for warrants, Ruckman said.

He said Arnold Police will seek felony charges against the two men through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.

The Lexus has been returned to its owner, Ruckman said.
