Larry D. Moyers, 36, of Arnold has been charged with four felonies tied to alleged domestic assaults and a three-hour standoff with police at his  home in Starling Community.

Moyers has been charged for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend and an 18-year-old male and for allegedly holding his girlfriend and a 13-year-old male hostage at the home, Arnold Police Detective Lt. James Jones said.

At 10:20 p.m. May 9, Arnold Police got a call that Moyers allegedly assaulted his girlfriend and the 18-year-old, choking them and throwing them to the floor. In addition, Moyers allegedly slapped his girlfriend and dragged her around their home by her hair, the report said.

By the time officers arrived on the scene, Moyers had fled. However, he returned to the home, and about an hour later, Arnold Police got another call to the home, according to the report.

When officers arrived, the man had barricaded himself inside a bathroom, along with his girlfriend and the 13-year-old and would not let them leave. In addition he allegedly was armed with a handgun while he was barricaded inside the home, the report said.

About three hours later, the man finally came out, and he was taken into custody without further incident. The handgun was found in a litter box in the bathroom, according to the report.

On May 10, the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged Moyers with two counts of first-degree kidnapping, class B felonies, and two counts of third-degree domestic assault, class E felonies. Each of the class B felonies carries a penalty of five to 15 years in prison, and each of the class E felonies is punishable by up to four years in prison.
