A 34-year-old Arnold man has been arrested for allegedly stealing $3,520 from Midland States Bank, 1920 Richardson Road, by depositing bad checks and withdrawing the money before the bank learned they were fraudulent, says Capt. Robert Ruckman of the Arnold Police Department.
Between May 8, 2015, and July 20, 2015, the man deposited $3,520 in checks from closed bank accounts at the ATM at Midland States Bank and then withdrew that amount at the ATM before bank found that the checks were no good, Arnold Police reported.
The man was later identified, and Arnold Police listed him as wanted, according to the report.
At about 7:55 a.m. Feb. 5, the man went to the Arnold Police Department to talk to an officer, and police ended up arresting him for the theft, Ruckman said.
He was booked and released pending application for warrants.
Arnold Police will seek felony stealing charges against him through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. As of today (Feb. 22), no charges had been filed, Ruckman said.
