A 25-year-old Arnold man recently was arrested in connection with the theft of a purse from a shopping cart at the Shop ‘n Save store, 1253 Water Tower Place, while the victim loaded groceries in her vehicle, says Arnold Police Detective Sgt. James Jones.
The theft occurred March 20, and Arnold Police arrested the man on May 24. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office had picked up the man, who was wanted in Arnold for forgery, Arnold Police reported.
Jones said the man allegedly used checks that were in the purse that was stolen in March. At that time, Arnold Police reported that a man ran up to the cart and grabbed the purse out of it and then ran away.
At 3:55 a.m. May 24, Arnold Police went to the Sheriff’s Office and took the man into custody. He was booked and released pending application for warrants, Jones said.
Arnold Police will seek charges against him through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. As of June 3, charges had not been filed, Jones said.
