hands in handcuffs

A 26-year-old Arnold man recently was arrested after his mother called Arnold Police and warned them that her son was headed to the Phillips 66 at 5 Municipal Drive to rob it, the report said.

At 10:25 p.m. Nov. 21, Arnold Police got a call from the mother who said her son was armed with a BB gun and intended to hold up the station. A short time later, officers found the man at Hwy. 141 and Astra Way, which is near the station. He allegedly had a concealed BB gun and a piece of clothing wrapped around his face as a disguise, according to the report.

The man also allegedly was found with drug paraphernalia, the report said.

He was taken into custody, and while interviewing him, the man allegedly admitted that he planned to rob the station “to support his drug habit,” according to the report.

The man already was on probation, so after he was booked and released, his probation officer asked Arnold Police to arrest him again for a probation violation, so at 12:05 p.m. Nov. 25, officers went to a home in the 1800 block of Holiday Valley Drive and took him into custody and held him for other authorities, Detective Lt. James Jones said.

Arnold Police will seek charges against the man through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for attempted robbery. As of Nov. 29, no charges had been filed, Detective Lt. James Jones said.
