A 29-year-old Arnold man was arrested after he allegedly stole a car from an acquaintance and wrecked it. The incident occurred about 7 p.m. Aug. 10, Arnold Police reported.
The suspect allegedly stole the car, a 2006 Volkswagen Jetta, from outside a home in the 200 block of Crosswinds in Arnold and then “proceeded to drive it in a careless and imprudent manner,” Lt. Clinton Wooldridge said.
A short time later, the man crashed the car into the roundabout at Hwy. 141 and Astra Way, which “flattened the tires and deployed the air bags,” Wooldridge said.
He said no one was hurt in the accident.
The man allegedly left the scene of the accident. However, police identified him as the suspect, located him and arrested him. He was booked and released pending application for warrants.
Arnold Police will seek felony stealing charges against the man through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, Wooldridge said.
