After nearly two months, police thwarted a 69-year-old Arnold man’s alleged ploy to pay less for merchandise he got at Walmart, 2201 Michigan Ave., Arnold Police reported
On Feb. 25, Arnold Police stopped the man from leaving the store after he allegedly failed to pay for $19.70 worth of items while using the self-checkout. The man did not scan some of the items while making his purchase, the report said.
Walmart employees told police the suspect had been under-ringing purchases since the start of the year. The employees also told police the man had misused the self-checkout 16 times before the Feb. 25 incident, according to the report.
The man allegedly had stolen $426.13 worth of items from the store by not scanning them when using the self-checkout, Arnold Police reported.
The man was issued a summons to appear in Arnold Municipal Court for stealing, Detective Lt. Jeremy Christopher said.
